Shocking revelation by the Dr. Punjabrao Deshmukh University of Agriculture

Because of laxity in maintaining the quality of the soil, agriculture in Vidarbha has to face soil deficiencies of various nutrients including carbon. This shocking observation has been recorded by Dr. Punjabrao Deshmukh University of Agriculture, and a report of this has been submitted to the central and state government.

Percentage of samples with nutrients below the caution level

Boron: 20, Iron: 28, Phosphate: 49, Potash: 6, Zinc: 51, Sulphur: 21, Nitrogen: 97, Organic Carbon: 29.

The proportion of limestone is more than 8 per cent in Amravati, Yawatmal, Akola, Vashim, and Chandrapur districts.
