45 THOUSAND TONS OF MANGOES TO BE EXPORTED THIS YEAR

Demand for Alphonso (Hapus) and Keshar mangoes, grown in the state of Maharashtra, is growing rapidly in India as well as overseas. If the weather conditions are favourable, mango production for this season is expected to occur in an area of about 186, 596 hectares. When it comes to exporting mangoes, two thousand producers  of Alphonso mangoes and 437 producers of  Keshar mangoes, i.e., a total of two thousand 437 mango producers from the state, have registered themselves on the Mangonet online system of the Department of Agriculture as export-ready mango garden owners. Through this source, it is estimated that 45, 000 tons of mangoes will be exported this year. Last year, 41,230 tons of mangoes were exported.

  • 2500 farmers registered on Mangonet
  • 1 86 586-hectare area capable of producing mangoes
  • 2000 producers of Alphonso mango registered for exports
  • 437 producers of Keshar mango registered for exports
  • 2,398 mango farmers from the Konkan area will export mangoes

“There is more response to the mango export registration this year. So, in order to encourage further registrations, the Department of Agriculture has extended the last date for the registration of mango exports to 28th February. To register as an exporter, contact the Taluka Department of Agriculture.”
